Poseur - BabyPinkStarPoseur - BabyPinkStar
'If this track were a person, it would be the resulting child of one debauched, drug fuelled night between Courtney Love and Russell Brand'
What Do They Care? - EjectorSeatWhat Do They Care? - EjectorSeat
Less of a single and more of a giddy-disco after thought, the guys aren’t so likely to win over new fans on this one.'
Analogue Dialogue - Scarlet SohoAnalogue Dialogue - Scarlet Soho
'For a brief moment I think the theme tune to Rocky is about to kick in!'
The Return to Form Black Magick Party - Pop LeviThe Return to Form Black Magick Party - Pop Levi
'Surrender those skinny jeans and kick the kohl – if saccharine stuffed, indie disco is your brand new bag then by all means, let this clichéd music journalist’s sentence end with the words 'Pop Levi is for you'
Summer Bloody Time - Kat VipersSummer Bloody Time - Kat Vipers
'Whilst too many artists attempt to be whacky and out there, but ultimately fail because it is basically a substitute for a lack of talent, Kat Vipers triumphs because behind all the bravado and intense music is a real spark of magic.'
You Are Your Own Disease E.P. - Harry Angel
'Plenty of Sonic Youth’s less headfuck moments abounding throughout; An assault on the senses courtesy of the guitars and a driving rhythm section...All this of course would be pointless if the vocalist was crap, thankfully the bearded Chris Beard sucks you in, like Brian Molko when he was relevant.'
Armchair - Thomas Tantrum
'..the ludicrously divine Megan Thomas. Her voice sits comfortably between a dying cat and PJ Harvey at her vitriolic best'
Flowby EP - Hush Collector
'It Don’t Matter’; like Portishead writing a soundtrack for a Paul Thomas Anderson movie'
Motion Sickness - Stolen Peace
'Sometimes CD’s are really easy to review without much being said'
Split Single Review - Freezer Burn/Miss The Occupier - Freezer Burn
'There’s no doubt that Freezer Burn have progressed. Sure, they’ll always play loose and sound a little rough around the edges, but overall the band have grown and found their sound and style. The proof is in the pudding, and while this pudding is rather epic for a single, like a summer fruits pavalova perhaps, it is by far their best work to date. Indeed the most prominent phrase in the song, “Focus comes”, seems incredibly apt.'
